Ingredients

Beef and Broccoli

  • 1 1/2 pounds top sirloin thinly sliced, against the grain
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon coconut aminos
  • 1 tablespoon arrowroot
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 6 cups broccoli cut into bite-sized florets

Stir Fry Sauce

  • 6 tablespoons coconut aminos (or 1/4 cup tamari or soy sauce)
  • 6 tablespoons beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil toasted
  • 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar unseasoned
  • 1 teaspoon arrowroot or tapioca flour or organic corn starch
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh ginger grated

Instructions

  • Thinly slice beef against the grain. The thinner the beef is sliced, the faster it will cook (it also marinates faster and makes a very flavorful dish). Using a sharp knife helps cut meat evenly.
  • Add sliced beef to a bowl, and mix it with the coconut aminos. Allow the beef to marinate while preparing the rest of the dish.
  • In a measuring cup or small bowl, whisk together all the stir fry sauce ingredients.
  • Add the broccoli to a large pan with a lid, along with about 1/4 cup of water. Heat the water to a simmer over high heat, and cover the pan for about 5 minutes, to allow the broccoli to steam. Remove the broccoli from the pan.
  • Into the same pan, drizzle the olive oil, and then add the marinated beef. Heat the pan to medium-high heat. Use a fork to spread the beef into an even layer so it cooks evenly. Cook each side for about 2-3 minutes, and then flip to cook the other side. Remove the beef from the pan.
  • Add the stir fry sauce to the pan. Heat it over medium-high heat, and bring the sauce to a simmer. Allow it to simmer for 2-3 minutes to thicken.
  • Add the steamed broccoli and cooked beef back into the pan, and toss to coat in the sauce.
  • Serve the beef and broccoli over rice, cauliflower rice, or other grain of choice. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions if desired.

Notes

How to Store Leftovers

Once the beef and broccoli has fully cooled, store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
This healthy beef and broccoli recipe is amazing for meal prep! Pack it with rice or cauliflower rice for a complete meal, ready to go!

FAQ & Tips for the Best Beef with Broccoli

What kind of steak is used for beef and broccoli? I use sirloin steak in this recipe, but sirloin tip, flank steak, or even round steak work in this dish. Tougher cuts of meat are okay to use but you might want to increase the marinating time.
What other veggies can I use in beef and broccoli? This dish is amazing because it’s so few ingredients, but if you love the sauce, use a variety of vegetables to mix it up! Broccolini, bell peppers, green beans, carrots, cauliflower, zucchini, and cabbage are great vegetables to add to a stir-fry.
Make it Low Sodium: If sodium is an issue for you, coconut aminos is lower in sodium than soy sauce. Omit the additional salt in the recipe. Low sodium soy sauce is another option.
Paleo & Whole30 Approved: As written, this recipe is paleo and Whole30 compliant. Coconut aminos and arrowroot are approved, but tamari or soy sauce and corn starch are not.
