Hard Boiled Eggs Come out Perfect in an Air Fryer!
This is by far the easiest way to cook hard-boiled eggs.
No need to have a single use gadget around to cook your eggs, air frying makes it a simple and straightforward process! Using hot air instead of water is less messy and more consistent than the stove top method or the Instant Pot.
Whether you like your eggs soft boiled or hard boiled, this method works for a range of outcomes!
Each air fryer is unique, so you’ll have to test the cooking time out in your own machine. Start with the times in the chart below and then adjust based on your perfect eggs.
Air Fryer Eggs are delicious served as a quick breakfast sprinkled with a little salt or everything bagel seasoning. I also love having hard boiled eggs on hand for salads, potato salad, egg salad sandwiches, or this bacon chicken macaroni salad.
Easter is coming up, and this is the best way to cook your Easter eggs prior to coloring them.

What You’ll Need
- Air Fryer (I use this larger air fryer and love it. It has a ceramic coating instead of nonstick. I also have a Ninja Air Fryer perfect for individuals or small families)
- Large Eggs (smaller eggs will work but the cooking time will need to be reduced.)

How to Cook Eggs in an Air Fryer
Step 1: Preheat air fryer to 250º F (120º C). Some air fryers only go down as low as 300º F and that’s okay – just shorten the cooking times by a couple minutes!
Step 2: Add fresh eggs to air fryer basket in a single layer. Do not overcrowd the air fryer or the eggs will not cook evenly. However, I have tested 2 eggs up to 10 eggs in the air fryer and they cook great. There is no need to add water – just place them straight in!

Step 3:Â Make an ice water bath by adding ice cubes and cold water to a large bowl. Remove eggs from the air fryer and place them into the bowl of ice water for about 10 minutes. This cools down the eggs enough to be able to handle them to remove the shells, and also stops the cooking process.
Step 4: The shells peel off easily. Crack the eggs and the peels will slide off.

Air Fryer Egg Cooking Times
Below is a chart of cooking times for air fryer eggs in my machine. Different air fryers will have slightly different cooking times. Start with my recommendations and then use the chart as a general rule of thumb to adjust the cooking time to fit your machine.
Soft boiled eggs cook faster while hard boiled eggs require more time.
Also, the more eggs cooked at once, the longer they will take. Two eggs might cook perfectly in your machine in 14 minutes, but it might take 16-18 minutes to cook 5 or 6 eggs. Subtract time for smaller batches of eggs or increase time for more eggs.
If you like your egg yolk to be soft, shorten the cooking time. Longer cooking times will yield a fully cooked white and firmer yolks. My favorite way to cook them is with a fully cooked white buy jammy yolk!

How to Store Cooked Eggs
Once your eggs are hard boiled, cool them in the ice bath until room temperature. They can be refrigerated for up to 7 days. Store peeled eggs in an airtight container or eggs still in the shell back in the egg carton or a bowl. Eggs that haven’t been peeled will stay fresher longer.
Eggs that are hard boiled store well. Soft boiled eggs should be eaten within a day – we prefer them when they are still hot!
This is perfect for weekly meal prep – I love having a bowl of eggs hard boiled and ready to go for extra protein.
How to Serve Hard Boiled Eggs
Hard boiled eggs make a great addition to any breakfast. They are also perfect served on salads, as deviled eggs, or colored for Easter eggs!
Serve as breakfast along with Air Fryer Bacon. Top your avocado toast with a smashed soft boiled egg or grated hard boiled egg!
