A fun Healthy Appetizer – Made in the Air Fryer!
When Air Fryers became the new rage, I was hesitant to add one to my kitchen. Another appliance I would have to find room to store! And how often would I use it?
Turns out, a lot. I use mine all the time. It’s perfect for quickly cooking meats (I love chicken legs and chicken wings cooked in it), giving veggies a satisfying charred crunch, and for warming up leftovers for my son’s meals (I even throw pieces of pizza in there!).
I use this Air Fryer – it’s smallish, which is perfect for my little household. It’s easy to store and provides consistent results, so I know exactly how long to put my favorite foods into it for.
These meatballs have been the newest thing we’ve been throwing into it! It’s easy to mix up ground turkey with some spices and parmesan cheese, and pop them in for a fun protein option for snacks or meals!
We love these Healthy Turkey Meatballs simmered on the stovetop in a homemade sauce – they are soft and soak in the flavors of the sauce. But they are a special occasion dinner, as I don’t often cook dishes that take an hour plus!
You’ll LOVE these Air Fryer Turkey Meatballs because:
- They are made with healthy ingredients – almond flour, parmesan cheese, and TONS of fresh herbs.
- They take minutes to mix together and cook in 12 minutes in the air fryer.
- Cooking them in the air fryer gives them a delicious crunchy textured exterior, but they stay moist inside thanks to all the herbs!
- Air fryer turkey meatballs are a delicious high protein snack or appetizer to keep on hand, can be added to little lunch boxes (with dipping sauce!), or can top a plate of zoodles or pasta in a hurry.
How to Cook Turkey Meatballs in the Air Fryer
Step 1: Add the ground turkey, onions, garlic, almond flour, parmesan cheese, fresh herbs, and spices to a mixing bowl. Stir to evenly mix in the additions.
Step 2: Roll the mixture into balls. I use wet hands because ground turkey is sticky!
Step 3: Preheat the Air Fryer to 390º F for 17 minutes. Allow it to preheat for 5 minutes.
Step 4: Pop in the meatballs at the 12 minute mark. They will take 12 minutes to fully cook but not dry out inside.
How to Serve Turkey Meatballs
We love these healthy turkey meatballs served simply with marinara sauce to dip. I usually make them as a snack or to put alongside a salad for a quick lunch.
You can also:
- Top pasta, rice or quinoa with meatballs and a jarred marinara sauce.
- Keep it low carb by topping zoodles or cauliflower rice with meatballs and a low carb sauce of your choice.
- Make these a fun party appetizer by serving them hot with a dipping sauce – marinara or even alfredo sauce would be fun.
