A Flavorful Shrimp Recipe
Shrimp is so easy to prepare! It’s the perfect last-minute dinner. It takes about 10 minutes to defrost and be ready to cook.
Keep this recipe in your back pocket for a night you forgot to plan ahead. While the shrimp are defrosting, chop up some veggies and stir up your sauce. When you’re done, the shrimp will be ready to go!
I make most of my sauces and dressings at home. Homemade condiments typically take minutes to prepare, and are much healthier than the store bought alternatives. Swap inflammatory oils and processed sugars for healthier alternatives, and customize them to your family’s needs.
This teriyaki shrimp stir fry was inspired my healthy soy-free teriyaki sauce recipe. Instead of making the sauce ahead of time, I simply whisk up the ingredients and then let it simmer and thicken along with the shrimp. I am all about tricks that help us save time (and dishes!) while preparing healthy family meals.
What You’ll Need
- Shrimp
- Spring vegetables (I used carrots, red bell peppers, sugar snap peas, and baby bok choy. Feel free to sub in green beans, broccoli, cauliflower or cabbage, based on what you have on hand!)
- Sesame Oil (or use avocado oil)
- Coconut Aminos (see recipe card for an option that uses tamari)
- Garlic
- Ginger
- Sriracha
- Honey (sub maple syrup or monk fruit sweetener)
- Arrowroot
- Sea Salt
Stir Frying at It’s Best
This recipe is the perfect quick dinner option, and I love knowing I can have it on the table in minutes using my Sharp Induction Cooktop.
Impatient cooks and busy mom’s will all love how quickly the cooktop heats up and cools down. Stir fries need high heat, and this cooktop heats my cookware up faster than any other stove I’ve used.
Once my veggies have softened (this takes less than 5 minutes!), I toss in my shrimp to cook, then add the teriyaki sauce to simmer. The whole dish is cooked in less than 15 minutes.
The Sharp Induction Cooktop comes in a 30″ and 36″ option. Choose the option that’s best for your kitchen and family. Larger families will benefit from the extra burner and warmer feature on the 36″ cooktop!

How to Make a Teriyaki Shrimp Stir Fry
Step 1: Whisk up the teriyaki sauce. There is no need to cook it yet. Set aside.
Step 2: Into a large skillet or wok, add the sesame oil and veggies. Stir fry over high heat until crisp tender. Remove the veggies from the skillet.
Step 3: Add the shrimp to the skillet, and continue cooking over high heat for about 3 minutes. Flip the shrimp, and begin cooking the other side for even cooking.
Step 4: Pour the stir fry sauce in with the shrimp. Bring it to a simmer, and allow it to thicken as the shrimp finish cooking.
Step 5: Add the veggies back into the skillet, and toss to coat with the stir fry sauce.
How to Serve a Stir Fry with Shrimp
- Steamed Rice (can use white, brown, or a Thai red rice based on preference!)
- Wild Rice (wild rice is actually a grass seed, not rice, and is higher in protein and fiber than rice).
- Cauliflower Rice (you can buy this pre made frozen or make your own cauliflower rice).
- Rice Noodles: keep it gluten free by making a shrimp stir fry with noodles. Soak the noodles per package directions until soft, and then toss them with the veggies and shrimp in the teriyaki sauce.)
How to Store Leftovers and Reheat
Store leftovers in an air tight container refrigerated up to 3 days. I do not recommend freezing stir fries.
To reheat, heat a wok over high heat, and add the stir fry in. Stir fry, stirring frequently, for about 5 minutes until hot throughout.
