Honey Chicken Perfection!
Years ago I discovered the magic of simmering chicken in balsamic vinegar. The vinegar tenderizes the chicken breasts, and reduces as it simmers, coating the chicken in a magical sweet sauce.
There’s no need to make a balsamic reduction separately from your chicken. This recipe shows you how to cook the chicken directly in the honey balsamic sauce. It’s such an easy method, you’ll find yourself making this recipe over and over again.
In the summer, layer this on a salad. It has so much flavor, there’s no need to add dressing!
Since it’s cold out right now, I wanted to make this a cozy comfort food meal. I served it on top of my Cauliflower Mash with roasted Brussels sprouts. This meal is honestly restaurant quality, but comes together in less than 30 minutes at home!
Carandini Sweet White Vinegar
I just discovered Carandini Modena Italia vinegars, and I am in love!
The company produces authentically Italian artisanal vinegars. Both the Balsamic and the Sweet White Vinegars are incredible work in this recipe.
I chose to use the Bianca Sweet White Vinegar. It’s sweet and thick like a good balsamic vinegar, but has a delicate color and flavor.
Find Bianca Sweet White Vinegar on Amazon or Whole Foods!
What You’ll Need
- Carandini Bianca Sweet White Vinegar
- Raw Honey
- Dijon Mustard (the perfect flavor to complement the sweetness!)
- Avocado or Olive Oil
- Chicken Breasts
- Salt, Black Pepper, and Thyme
How to Make Honey Chicken
Step 1: In a small bowl, combine the honey, Carandini Sweet White Vinegar, and Dijon mustard. Whisk together to combine.
Step 2: Heat a skillet over medium high heat. Add the olive oil to a skillet, then add in the chicken breasts. Season the chicken with salt, pepper, and thyme.
Step 3: Brown the chicken on both sides.
Step 4: Reduce the heat to medium low, and drizzle in the honey balsamic mixture. Simmer the chicken in the honey sauce and allow it to reduce to a thick glaze. Turn the chicken a few times to coat the chicken in the sauce. Cook chicken to an internal temperature of 165º F, or until the juices run clear.
How to Serve Honey Balsamic Chicken
With so much flavor in the sauce, the side dishes for this honey chicken recipe should be simple!
Try:
- Mashed Cauliflower
- Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts or Air Fryer Asparagus
- Over a bed of spinach and Roasted Delicata Squash
- With a bed of Spaghetti Squash
How to Store Leftover Honey Chicken
Store leftover honey chicken drizzled with the remaining honey balsamic sauce in an air tight container refrigerated for up to 3 days.
The balsamic vinegar in this recipe keeps the chicken breasts moist, so it’s a perfect recipe for meal prep. The leftover chicken is flavorful and tender.
